Anthony Rizzo Ready to Return, While Another IL Infield is Not

Yankees Awaiting the Return of Rizzo

According to manager Aaron Boone, the Yankees are preparing to welcome Anthony Rizzo back to the lineup this weekend as the team travels to Toronto.

Rizzo has been on the injured list since May 28 with lower back tightness. He has been taking batting practice and fielding ground balls since last weekend and is expected to be activated on Friday.

Rizzo's return will be a boost for the Yankees, who have struggled to score runs in his absence. The team is 6-15 since he went on the IL.

Another Infielder's Return on Hold

While Rizzo is set to return, another injured infielder, Gio Urshela, is not yet ready to come off the IL.

Urshela has been out since May 28 with a strained left hamstring. He has been progressing slowly in his rehab and is not yet ready to start running.

Boone said that Urshela is "getting better every day" but that he is not yet close to returning.
