Andy Gibb: A Life in Music

Early Life and Career

Andy Gibb was born on 5 March 1958 in Stretford, Lancashire, England. He was the youngest of five children born to Barbara and Hugh Gibb, and the youngest brother of the Bee Gees. Gibb began singing and playing guitar at a young age, and by the time he was 13, he had joined his brothers' band.

Solo Career

In 1977, Gibb launched his solo career with the release of the single "I Just Want to Be Your Everything". The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and became a worldwide hit. Gibb followed up with a number of other successful singles, including "Shadow Dancing", "An Everlasting Love", and "Time Is Time".

Later Career and Legacy

Gibb's solo career continued throughout the 1980s, but he never reached the same level of success as his brothers. He struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, and his career suffered as a result. Gibb died of a heart attack in 1988 at the age of 30.

Despite his short career, Gibb left behind a legacy of catchy pop songs that continue to be enjoyed by fans around the world. His music has been covered by a wide range of artists, including Madonna, Mariah Carey, and Justin Timberlake.
